World Economic Forum - Grant Writing Consultant

Geneva, Switzerland

Consulting grant writer for the World Economic Forum’s “Cities and Infrastructure” practice area. Work with the Forum’s Platform on cities and urbanization - comprised of political, business and civil society leaders - to identify and apply for grant funds in support of activities related to urban transformation and sustainable cities.

California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) – Permanent Local Housing Allocation Grant Program

City of Lodi, CA and City of Alameda, CA

Prepared successful grant applications to HCD on behalf of these cities for Permanent Local Housing Allocation funding to support initiatives related to affordable housing development and services to assist homeless persons. Worked with City staff to develop five-year plans for expenditure of grant funds, documenting project impact and characteristics of households served.

California Department of Parks and Recreation - Recreational Trails Program Grant

City of Perris, CA, Community Services Department

Prepared complete grant application for $1.5 million to fund construction of a one-mile segment of a multi-use pedestrian and bicycle trail along the San Joaquin River. The proposed trail segment is identified as a high-priority project in the City of Perris’ Trail Master Plan.

California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) – SB1 Adaptation Planning Grants

City of Elk Grove, CA, City Manager’s Office

Wrote grant application for $300,000 for the Caltrans 2018 SB-1 Adaptation Planning Grants program, to fund the preparation of a Mobility Resilience Plan for the City of Elk Grove. The purpose of the Mobility Resilience Plan is to develop responses to climate change impacts on the city’s transportation system.

U.S. Department of State, Office of the Geographer and Global Issues – Secondary Cities Program

Ecocity Builders, Oakland, CA

Wrote successful grant application to the U.S. Department of State, for a $221,375 grant under their Secondary Cities Program. The grant funded the launching and implementation of the project “Urbinsight: Geospatial Mapping and Education for Community Sustainability, Resilience, and Emergency Planning” in Cusco, Peru and Medellin, Colombia.

Organization of American States - Sustainable Cities in the Americas Grant Program

Ecocity Builders, Oakland, CA

Following award of a $50,000 grant, served as project manager for the EcoCitizen Map Project in Lima, Peru. Responsible for managing grant funds and preparing reports evaluating progress in project implementation and success in achieving stated target outcomes.

California Natural Resources Agency - Urban Greening Grant

City and County of San Francisco, Recreation and Park Department

Contributed to successful grant application to the California Natural Resources Agency for $599,809 for construction of a new park, Noe Valley Town Square. Served as staff planner for project before and after award of grant funds.

California State Coastal Conservancy - San Francisco Bay Conservancy Grant

City and County of San Francisco, Recreation and Park Department

Contributed to successful application for $500,000 from the California State Coastal Conservancy’s San Francisco Bay Conservancy Grant program for preparation of a conceptual plan for a new waterfront park at the 900 Innes Avenue property. Served as staff planner for project before and after award of grant funds.

US Department of Transportation - TIGER II Grant

City of Oakland, Planning and Zoning Division

Contributed to successful application for $2 million TIGER II (Transportation Investments Generating Economic Recovery) Planning Grant program, jointly administered by the US Department of Transportation and Department of Housing & Urban Development. The grant funded the preparation of the West Oakland Specific Plan and an infrastructure and utilities plan for the Oakland Army Base Redevelopment Area. Served as project staff for West Oakland Specific Plan following award of grant.
